Review: Busou Shinki – Proxima

It’s been a while hasn’t it? Well as i promised i will be reviewing one more figure before i leave the management onto someone else. So without further tl:dr stuff. Get ready for a 41 strip review, as we head dive into a new line of figure, the review of busou shinki’s proxima.

So this will be the first of a new line, a shinki. But since shinkis contains lots of parts, i can’t really give much say in it so i’ll let the picture paint itself.

What can i say about the box? It’s thick and quite big. For someone who are used to figmas and the likes (excluding chougokins), her box is huge. But one thing that catches me is this…

Review: Busou Shinki - Proxima

It hit me, i wasn’t buying a figure. I am adopting a shinki, Stated here that she is from Ovest Pozzo Fabbrica or O.P.F. for short, product ID OP009C. Also stated there is a short excerpt of OPF’s place in the shinki manufacturing game. Along with a short detail on  the Proxima unit.

Anyway let’s take a look at what she comes with. Since it’s a lot, i’ll just show you the pics for each layer of blisters.

From her blisters we can see that she has a lot, although I’m certain we won’t be using much of it, but OPF provided us with modularity modules, parts that can help you customize your shinki. This, i give props to.

I absolutely have no fukken idea how to activate a shinki… OFF TO THE FORUMS!!!

…So after a while i finally got some info that i need a software suite called Shinki Connect. Which to my wallet’s disagreement costs nearly as much as a brand new suite of Windows 7 Ultimate. So i turned my head towards sourceforge.net, they usually make open source programs that are free but still can do the work of full suit softwares.

And i found it, downloaded it and tried it. It’s called Shinki Dashboard.

I really wish i can just ctrl+c real text and ctr+v it directly into the pc… i swear i hate long product activation codes…

Well… i gotta admit… she was pretty much a blank slate upon activation. I can see her traits seeping out though, she still has that prideful demeanor of a centaur. The funny thing was, she learns quite fast. I suppose this is how all shinkis are at first upon activation. So she catches on really quick when i told her that i’m going to review her and post it on this blog, although she denied it first thinking it was a modelling session…

Review: Busou Shinki - Proxima

Taking a glance at her she is well detailed. Not as detailed as a figma but then again shinkis are meant for competitive purposes in mind so i suppose that’s acceptable. Her joints might be hideous for some people but before i continue, let me tell you this, there is only one line that can compete to a shinki’s flexibility. Kaiyodo’s Revoltech.

Review: Busou Shinki - Proxima

On her chest … which are pleasing to look at… …

Oh sorry, there is her manufacturing company name, Ovest Pozzo Fabbrica or OPF…

ANYWAY! Let’s move on with the review!

Review: Busou Shinki - Proxima

Her joints on her arms doesn’t interest me much… what i’m interested is how her thigh joints work, shinkis seem to have an amazing clearance on the legs. After quite a long and twisting convincing from me i manage to get her to agree to turn around and bend over…

Review: Busou Shinki - Proxima

So THAT’S HOW. Turns out shinkis have double joints in the thigh making their legs really easy and have that trademark ridiculous clearance and flexibility to get into different poses.

Anyway i finished reading up her manual, let’s suit her up shall we?

No, i did not edit that shot, nor did i use my jedi force for it. She simply has… amazing balance

Review: Busou Shinki - Proxima

Trust me, dear readers… you do NOT want to be kicked by a centaur’s hind legs… And as usual this pic is not doctored nor edited… and no i didn’t use wingardium leviosa either…

And there you have it, Honoka with her armaments.

I will say this clearly. Yes she felt flimsy, but that doesn’t mean her joints are loose. Yes her joints are hideous, but that gives room to ridiculous posabilities. Yes she’s annoying at times, but so does every newly activated shinki. Yes her details are not as amazing as line x y or z, she compensates it with amazing flexibility.

With this i gave her…

Because i know shinkis are not for everyone, but i highly recommend her. Because she’s fun… no really she is, that’s the reason why i collect

AHA!!! I found her weak spot!!!

Anyway i was finishing this review while she was bouncing around on my wrist cushion… I suppose i lost track of time so when i turned to look…

I think i need to get her that shinki charging station… Because i think plugging her on and off the link cable is inconvenient…

  1. Ah, finally she’s here eh.
Activation sequence and software? Good thing my Hoihoi-san is a turn on and play type. 😀 (which, is to the annoyance of my grunts when she mistakenly thinks they’re pest)

    DAT BALANCE! D=

    I wonder, wait… you DO have Rider, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight~? 😉

    1. Apparently all shinkis need such boot up methods, but hey, she’s a fun one to be around when she isn’t going tsuntsun on everyone.

About that balance, it’s because of the Shinki’s own weight they’re able to pull off such feats.

Well i get what you’re saying but i’m not sure Honoka would just let everyone hop on her back. That’s a pretty big deal for centaurs.

      1. I refuse to let anyone ride my back. Please don’t pursue the thought any more than this.

On a side note, Master. It has nothing to do with how much i weigh, i simply can.

      1. Hiya Honoka! I’ve always wanted to talk to a real Shinki! One question. Could you ask Yama-San if he knows of a Shinki named Juvisy? I ordered her off Ebay and she’s coming in from Hong Kong. (Which is really far from where I live :/ ) She’s supposed to arrive next month O_O Btw you look cute on Fluffy. I hope I won’t have to use a software to activate my Shinki, most of my girls woke up by themselves in the box.

        1. Hi hi~
I don’t need to ask Master about it, because i know the Juvisy models. They are quite sturdy actually, and charming too. Juvisy models however have been known to have an introvert quirk, but once they open up they’re quite nice.

    1. I’m still trying to translate those moonrunes… and i think i failed miserably lol

Hey, Honoka is quite charming. She’s uh… just a little bit too uptight at times…

  3. When you said alot of parts..it was really ALOT of parts hahahaa. And it’s a real eye-opener into the world of Shinkis..can see the customising prospects of it there. And loved how she was brought to life. 😄

    1. Well all shinkis need the same method i suppose… Although i hate to do the same input for the long product code again.

I mean i ordered Strarf Mk 2 Lavina, that means i need to activate her the same way.

    2. All shinkis need the same method of activation.

Although i regret Master’s choice to use a free open source shinki software instead of the official Shinki Connect©. The official one has more features to maintain a shinki.

  4. Hohohoho! so she has arrived already, mind to ask you good sire, but she does come with codes for the game right? Have you tried it yet?

Quite a lot of things we got there~ staple for all shinkis I guess. Hope she comes with no fault, heard that there were personality glitches with some shinki.

    1. Well since battle rondo is already gone, she doesn’t come with any codes. Not even her DLC for the Battle Masters Mk2 game.
      = w=)

Well, so far she hasn’t shown any signs of quirkiness. Though I’m a but worried since i’m using an open source software compared to the commonly used Shinki Connect©.

    2. I’m certain i have no … “quirks” … as Master puts it.

Though as far as an opensource software goes i can’t really tell.
Master insists on not using the usual Shinki Connect© because it might install an auto-correct mechanism which will automatically erase any behavior shifts…

He said it’s like killing a personality.

  5. Man, Shinki’s sure come with a bunch of stuff, the full armor packages anyways.

The joints always bugged me before, even more so after figmas and frauleins and what not. I got over it once I learned of the 1:1 scale stuff, it made sense, found it charming. Another thing that surprised me was how flimsy it felt, surprisingly enough it is quite sturdy even with all sorts of things on the main body.

Quite an interesting line… to bad getting more is so darn expensive.

    1. To concentrate on shinki i had to lower the priorities of the other lines. Like Figmas, Nendos and Revoltechs.

But in all honesty, after seeing Honoka for myself, i have no regrets for it.

That and she has a knack for fluffy things… probably a glitch, but it’s a cute glitch LOL 😄
