It’s finally here, one of the super robots to define badassery. Without further ado, let’s get on with the review of: Super Robot Chogokin – Shin Getter 1
First of all let me tell you this:
THAT GLOW IN THE DARK THING IN THE PROMO IS PHOTOSHOPPED
…meaning, that NO, shin getter 1 will not glow, light up or anything remotely close to what the image below shows you.
HOWEVER, there are a LOT of saving graces that Shin Getter 1 offers you. So let’s continue with the review and we’ll get to that part.
First let’s just skip the damn box since it’s just a damn box, and move on to a look at shin getter 1 himself.
Besides the fact that they won’t light up you gotta love the details on him, The body linings, the paintjob, that detailed face sculpt. He is mostly made of die cast metal, namely his shoulders, arms, but the torso and the thigh are made of plastic. Despite that they don’t feel cheap or thin like something that would be used on a cheap plastic toy.
And here’s where the saving graces begins, Shin Getter 1, is probably (no idea if any other SRC might have it) one of the most heavily articulated SRC I’ve ever seen. Let me show you.
Now this, is just… whoa…
Besides the one on the foot where most SRCs have them, but the other joints are quite… a lot >_>;;
These joints allow this getter machine to pose almost as much and as free as its revoltech counterpart.
You might be wondering… what’s that huge gash on his arm, well worry not, it’s not a factory defect or something like that. It’s a place to put these.
Now i have to warn you, unlike figmas or other abs/pvc weapons, these are HARD… and REALLY SHARP. That means, yes, at a certain angle with a certain stroke you can actually cut yourself, or worse… I’m not exaggerating… If you try something stupid then i as a blog writer am not responsible for it.
He also came with a changeable torso plate that shows the hole where he shoots the getter beam.
Now these are the extra hands that came for him, rather few compared to other lines but it’s more than enough awesomeness. Trust me on that…
Speaking of extras shin getter 1 also came with a wing, that can be attached to his back.
Now if you flap his wings upwards like i shown on the first pic, that’s easily over a foot long… that’s 12 inches tall or 30cm tall. Yes those wings are long and wide, so as a disclaimer, MAKE SPACE FOR THE GUY ON YOUR DISPLAY CASE/SHELF.
Speaking of sharp pointy things, he also came with something as long as his wings and as sharp as the spiral cutter on his arms…
It looks cool and awesome right? Right. But it’s damn sharp and hard… you can easily bled yourself with that scythe, Take my word for it, i tried, and got a nasty mark… so BE CAREFUL WITH IT…
Now with all that said and done, what’s a super robot without that badass super robot pose that shows superiority?
And that pic concludes my review of the SRC Shin Getter 1. Yes, it was disappointing that he doesn’t light up like the pic that was spread during marketing, but the amount of articulation on this guy and his natural size (15cm/6inches from foot to head, 17cm/6.6inches including the shoulder height) he has to be one of the biggest SRC to date, besides the soon to be released mazinkaiser and next year’s genesic gaogaigar. This alone made him worth that price tag. So with this i deem him:
I only give recommended because the price tag and his size might not be for everyone. But, if you have that little extra, a fan of the getter series or super robots in general, this guy is a must have.
